Genealogy Guys released episode number 230 on January 16, 2012. They go over some genealogy news such as: FamilySearch has released new records, GenSoftReviews announces the 2011 User Choice Awards, the Association of Professional Genealogists has back issues of its APG Quarterly available, and more.
They also read and respond to listener email, which included many condolences about the passing of Fletcher, their cat who “spoke” on many of their podcasts. Other listener email topics include: problems with downloading the Genealogy Guys podcast on Ubuntu, and lots of tips about resources to search through.

African Roots Podcast released episode number 146 on January 20, 2012. In this episode, host Angela Walton-Raji points out the deadline for a call for papers for the International Black Genealogy Summit. She also notes the deadline for a call for papers for the Federation of Genealogical Societies 2013 conference. She also talks about a panel discussion called “African American Family Reunions and Family History”.
FGS released a new episode on January 21, 2012. This episode is called “Crafting an Effective Member Survey”. This episode is hosted by Randy Whited.
Guests include Paula Hinkel, of the Southern California Genealogical Society in Burbank, California, and guest Taneya Koonce, a member of the FGS Education Committee. They discuss survey design, implementation methods, and analysis. The featured Genealogical Society this week is the Idaho Genealogical Society.
The National Archives released an episode on January 20, 2012. This episode is called “How a chisel, a mule, a shipping container, and a cloud contribute to family history”. It is presented by Sharon Hintze, Director of the London Family History Centre in South Kensington, England. She talks about how not all technology over the millennia has changed, and that the future is not entirely digital.
