Genealogy to Watch on Your Computer

laptop Looking for something interesting, and genealogy related, to watch? There are plenty of these types of videos online that are perfectly legal to watch for free. There may be ads inserted into the videos. Some of them will only be around for a limited time. If you wanted to relax, and catch a television episode that involves genealogy, this is entirely possible. You just have to know where to look.

Did you miss an episode of the popular “Who Do You Think You Are?” television show? You can watch all of the full length episodes from Season Two of the show directly through the show’s page on NBC. The celebrities featured in Season Two of the show include: Vanessa Williams, Tim McGraw, Rosie O’Donnell, Kim Cattrall, Lionel Richie, Steve Buscemi, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ashley Judd. These episodes will be available, for free, until September 18, 2011.

ABC Good Morning America has a genealogy related episode available through hulu.com that you can watch for free. The episode is called “Famous Faces Trace Their Genealogy”. It features an interview with Henry Louis Gates, Jr., where he describes some of the interesting genealogical findings that were discovered about the family tree of certain celebrities that were featured on the “Faces of America” show.

You can watch episode one of “Faces of America” directly through the PBS website, for free. While you are there, you can check out dozens of clips from other episodes in the series.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show has an episode with Lisa Kudrow, (who is both an actress and the producer of the “Who Do You Think You Are?” series). Lisa Kudrow describes how Ellen Degeneres is related to Madonna, (in great detail). She also has other interesting genealogy related things to share about Ellen’s family tree. There is a YouTube series called “Great Depression Cooking With Clara”. Ever wonder what kinds of things your ancestors who lived through the Great Depression were cooking? Clara shows you. You can watch two episodes of the show for free, directly through the official “Great Depression Cooking With Clara” page.
