In his talk “Message to My Grandsons” President Faust addresses all of the Priesthood brethren, as though they were members of his family. President Faust begins by emphasizing just how special the gift of the priesthood is. He shares the story of a young Priest, and the first time that he ordained someone to be a teacher. The young man’s testimony grew as a result of that experience. President Faust emphasizes that the priesthood is the authority to act in God’s name. He points out the importance of taking this seriously. He goes on to speak about the importance of missionary work.
President Faust then challenges the young men to become men of God. He counsels that this will happen through righteous actions and living. It is important to realize that each person will be held accountable for his actions on earth. It is important to keep the commandments, especially in an increasingly wicked world.
President Faust speaks about the importance of honoring womanhood. He also speaks of the man’s responsibility when it comes to caring for his wife and children. He urges the young men to take seriously their choice of career. He cautions the youth to make sure that they put people before the pursuit of money.
President Faust concludes his talk by pointing out that each person is unique. That each person has great promise. The knowledge of the gospel can help with the pursuits of daily life. He urges the young men to go forward in righteousness and faith.
This is a wonderful talk. I think that it is important to realize the blessings and comfort that the gospel brings to our lives. As we live righteously we are given added strength and peace to meet the challenges of the world. President Faust offers good advice on what is most important. I hope that you will take the time to read his talk.
