In his talk “The True and Living Church” President Henry B. Eyring speaks about how the church is true and it continues even after a prophet passes away. President Eyring points out the keys of the priesthood were restored to the earth by the Apostle Peter when he gave them Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith conferred those keys to the quorum of the Twelve, so the church continued after he died.
President Eyring points out that it is important to live worthily so that the keys will continue to be on the earth. We truly sustain our leaders when we heed their counsel and keep the commandments of the church. Another way that we can sustain our leaders is by giving service to others. It is important to follow the words of the prophet, so that we can continue to receive his counsel.
President Eyring emphasizes the importance of being grateful for a true and living church. He specifically mentions being grateful for the ordinances of the gospel and for the blessings that the gospel brings to his family. He also promises that the gospel can help to improve your family situation as you embrace its principles.
President Eyring speaks of when he first gained his testimony of the gospel. He shares specific experiences of when he realized that the leaders are called of God to lead the church, both at the local level and churchwide. He then challenges each of us to gain a testimony of the gospel and its leadership on earth.
This is a wonderful talk that really emphasizes the importance of gaining a testimony of the fullness of the gospel. President Eyring spoke of the things that make our church unique when compared to other churches. I hope that you will take the time to read and ponder this talk.
