Really George Clooney? You are already extremely talented (having an Oscar to attest to that), incredibly good looking (having left behind him a string of beauties and he is currently dating statuesque WWE Diva Stacy Keibler), and now continues to be unbelievable giving. If he wasn’t so lovable and charming, we would surely all hate him.
This time, Clooney has auctioned off his beloved 2008 Tesla “Signature 100” Roaster for charity. He said the car, with only 1,825 miles, was a joy to drive, but he loves something else even more – helping make the world a better place.
Clooney’s Roadster, the eighth one ever made, was on sale through the 19th at Gooding and Company’s Peeble Beach Auction. The president of the auction house, David Gooding, said, “We are overjoyed to present George Clooney’s Signature 100 Tesla at Pebble Beach because this is an incredible opportunity to purchase a modern collector car with all the right elements: one-owner, celebrity provenance; historical significance; limited-edition rarity and philanthropic ties.” He went on to say how much the company admired Clooney for “making a difference in our international community.”
I couldn’t find out online if or for how much the car sold, but it was valued at $100,000 – $125,000. Whatever it brings, all proceeds will go to the Satellite Sentinel Project (SSP), which Clooney co-founded with activist John Prendergast. SSP focuses on bringing the human rights atrocities being committed in the Sudan to the attention of the world in hopes of stopping them.
Why does Clooney choose to help others? He told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s set a goal for himself. He said, “I am a terrified of not finishing, or at least not participating enough.” How fearful is he? “Everybody has a fear of death, but my fear isn’t dying; it’s of not getting the job done.”
