George Clooney’s Best Friend Dies

He was George Clooney’s best friend. In fact, I remember reading an interview Clooney did with a magazine years ago (post “Facts of Life” and pre “ER”) in which he said he didn’t feel the need to re-marry because his “friend” provided adequate companionship.
Now that “friend” is dead.

According to PEOPLE magazine, Max, the nearly 300-pound potbellied pig that lived with George Clooney in the actor’s Hollywood Hills house, has died. Clooney’s beloved pig shared a home with him for 18 years and had suffered from arthritis and partial blindness.

“He was as old a pig as the vets had ever seen. I was really surprised, because he’s been a big part of my life,” Clooney told USA Today. The actor also confessed that he even shared the same bed with his pet. Clooney said, sadly he was out of town promoting his latest film, “The Good German,” when Max died.

The past couple of years have been rough for Clooney and his foot-footed friends. Last year the actor’s prized bulldog died. But, it was Max who was well known among Clooney’s fans. The pig was sometimes featured in interviews with Clooney who called him “Max the Star.”

If Clooney is looking for a new pet (sorry Max) I may have a suggestion. A dog that was dubbed a “hero” by the national media needs a home.

Hunter the black lab is credited with waking up a North Dakota family in time to get them out of their burning home early on the day after Thanksgiving. Sadly, the family can no longer care for their bleoved pooch and is looking for someone to adopt him. Hunter’s owner says the family can’t keep him in the hotel where they’ll be living for months until their home is repaired.

According to news reports, Hunter and another family dog named Riley are being boarded at a West Fargo kennel until they can be adopted. The family says they want to find a family for Hunter that has a farm where he’ll have room to run off his energy.
