Gerald McBoing Boing: The Dr.Seuss Favorite Comes To Your TV

Older parents or cultured cartoon fans like myself may remember Gerald McBoing Boing from the 1950’s. Gerald McBoing Boing doesn’t speak with words, instead the six year old communicates through sound effects. The 1950’s Gerald released several films, and went on to make several guest appearances on Mr.Magoo’s TV show.

In recent years the cartoon has been updated slightly and re-released on the cartoon network. The new Gerald McBoing Boing, released two DVDs recently “Gerald McBoing Boing Fairytales” and “Gerald McBoing Boing Adventures” that are bound to entertain you just as much as your child.

The animation in the Gerald McBoing Boing DVD’s simple and the stories are easy to understand and are always entertaining. Older children can be captivated by the actual story line in the film, while younger kids can enjoy listening to Gerald make sounds instead of words. Each DVD is only an hour long so it is guaranteed to hold your child’s attention for its duration.

Each disc contains several different adventures starring Gerald. For instance the fairytales disc has s Gerald McBoing Boing twist to the story of Hansel and Gretel, Aladdin, the Princess and the Pea, and Cinderella

Gerald McBoing Boing is based on a children’s book by the same name written by Dr. Seuss. Both of the movies include a copy of the book, as well as the hour long DVD. The book can be a great follow up to watching the DVDs with your child, and if your child is a Gerald fan, encourage them to read about Gerald’s adventures as well as watch them on television.

I have always been a huge Dr. Seuss fan, and these DVD’s bring out the kid in me. Parents who remember Seuess’s fun rhymes will get a kick out of watching these short DVD’s along with their children.

Gerald McBoing Boing Adventures, and Gerald McBoing Boing Fairytales each run 60 minutes and are appropriate for children age two and up. You can purchase them where ever DVDs are sold as well as online at Amazon.com.
