Get Better Cable Rates

I love television. I don’t think I’ve made my TV adoration much of a secret. We’re in a small lull before fall programming starts. The DVR catches only one show on Monday and nothing on Tuesday. It probably wonders why it’s getting a break.

We’ve had a lot of different programming providers over the years. Our current house is out in the country. We don’t have a lot of options to be able to watch TV. We originally went with Dish, but after having a big issue we switched to DirecTV. We would love to be able to go back to traditional cable.

I have learned that we television programming providers are experiencing a decline in subscribership. At first I couldn’t understand it. How can anyone go without TV? I have known people who don’t own TVs or watch TV; I don’t understand that either.

Where are the subscribers going? I know people who either rely on antenna programming or the most basic package provided. I love having a large variety of channels and shows to choose from. Those groups are probably not the base that’s being lost.

People are watching programs online for free or much lower fees. Computers can be hooked up to TVs so that the programming coming to the computer can still be watched from the comfort of the couch. That makes sense to me. I will not pay for premium channels; I would rather pay a lower fee for Netflix to stream programming through the Wii.

This situation can work to the benefit of those of us who still want traditional programming packages. Providers are more open to barter now. They are hungry for subscribers and want to keep the ones they have. There are no guarantees that you can get a better rate, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.
