My husband and I went to Chipotle for lunch today. That was when I first noticed the new sweepstakes that Chipotle is holding, with the help of Foursquare. Someone will win free burritos for an entire year. Ten people will win a “Burrito Party for 10”.
Chipotle is a chain restaurant that sells gourmet burritos and tacos. If you are trying to avoid carbs, you can order a “burrito bowl”, and have them put in everything that would normally go into a burrito, minus the tortilla. Chipotle has been serving “food with integrity”, which means that they find the best ingredients raised with respect for the animals, the environment, and the farmers. Their food tastes great!
Foursquare is an app that you can put onto your smartphone. Once the app is on your phone, you can use it to “check in” to wherever it is that you happen to travel to. For example, you can “check in” to Chipotle when you go there for lunch or dinner. People use Foursquare to “check in” to stores, restaurants, and sometimes, even their own homes.
One of the things that you get when you “check in” to someplace through Foursquare is the possibility of being proclaimed “Mayor” of that particular place. Being “Mayor” can, in some cases, result in some nice deals from the restaurant or store that you have become “Mayor” of.
You can earn different badges based on what kinds of places you “check in” at, and how often you do it. The badges give you status, and personal satisfaction, and nothing more. Sometimes, when you “check in” through Foursquare, a note will pop up telling you about a special deal that is only for people who are using the app.
Right now, through May 31, 2012, you can enter a sweepstakes when you go to Chipotle and “check in” on Foursquare. Do this at least three times while the sweepstakes is going on, and you will unlock the “Chipotle Badge”. This will give you one entry into the sweepstakes. To get more entries, visit Chipotle again, and check in again.
There will be only one Grand Prize Winner. This person will be issued 52 “burrito buck” promotional coupons. In other words, each of these special coupons will give you one free burrito. There will be ten winners of the Runner Up Prizes. Each Runner Up Winner will get a “Burrito Party for 10”. The prize will consist of: 10 free burritos, burrito bowls, or orders of tacos or salads, five free chips and salsas, and ten free drinks.
