My scrapbooking area looks like an F-5 tornado ripped through it. Sadly, it looks that way after completing just one back-to-school memory book. Imagine what will happen if I leave it this way until the holidays.
With Halloween just about a week away, and Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner, now is the time to get your scrapbooking materials organized. The holidays are chaotic enough without having to search high and low for specific embellishments, paper and tools. What’s more, if you are planning to design scrapbooks as gifts to give for Christmas or Hanukkah, then you have added incentive to clean-up your stash.
The bulk of my embellishments are stickers. I have nearly 100 of them, not counting special themed adhesives that I use during the holiday season. Whereas I am glad that I don’t have to spend money purchasing new ones this year, I need to work on getting them organized, so they don’t go to waste. Nothing is more upsetting than thinking you used a pack of stickers and buying new ones, when in fact you simply misplaced the originals under a pile of other materials.
When organizing stickers it’s best to complete a quick inventory first. Knowing exactly how many of the colorful adhesives you are dealing with, you will be better able to select a system that works best for your collection. Next, consider where you do most of your scrapbooking. If you attend a lot of crops you will need an organizational system that is portable, so you can transport your embellishments with ease.
Another factor to consider is price. There are a slew of scrapbook sticker organizers on the market, and many of them don’t come cheap. However, it’s not necessary to fork over a ton of money to purchase a basic system. In fact, if you are creative, you can find several inexpensive products that will help keep your stickers in mint condition. For example, a large binder filled with plastic page protectors is a great option. Not only will you be able to view all of your stickers at a glance, you can also add more pages as your collection grows. If you scrapbook almost exclusively at home, then invest in some plastic storage drawers. The durable containers will protect your stickers from damage and won’t bust your budget.
