I don’t like to waste time when I’m cleaning the house. I usually do because I get distracted easily but one thing that makes me crazy is running up and down the stairs to get my cleaning supplies. I love the fact that my house has several levels and three bathrooms. I get a lot of exercise running up and down the steps cleaning those same bathrooms.
I finally got tired of it and made four cleaning baskets. You can pick up baskets with handles at the dollar store so this doesn’t have to be expensive. Fill each basket for what you need to clean that bathroom, or if your house has different levels, what you need to clean each level. It was small baskets for me because I clean everything with baking soda and vinegar. Load up your cleaning supplies, cleaning rags, dusters, scrub brushes and sponges.
Now I have a basket in each bathroom and one under the kitchen sink. Since I use vinegar for everything I saved old ketchup squeeze bottles, rinsed them out and filled them with vinegar, this is perfect for getting under the rim of the toilet. I have a spray bottle filled with vinegar and water for wiping down surfaces and cleaning the tub and shower.
I also asked my friend to save those containers that carpet fresheners come in and I filled them up with baking soda. If you use baking soda and vinegar to clean buy the largest sizes you can find, you will save a ton of money not to mention reduce the impact on the environment.
It would be helpful if I had a vacuum for each level instead of having to lug mine up and down the stairs but that seems like a waste of money. I do have a whisk broom and dustpan with my cleaning supplies, this is usually enough for sweeping bathroom floors before you mop them. If you don’t want to buy baskets you can store your cleaning supplies in the bucket you use for the floors.
Even little time savers help. Now I need to find another way to exercise since I don’t have to make quite so many trips up and down the stairs.
