Get Your “Dancing with the Stars” Fix Here

If you are like me and are suffering from “Dancing with the Stars” withdrawal then you’ll welcome these bits of news. First, the sixth season of ABC’s highly addictive toe-tapping, hip-shaking series kicks off on March 17th. However, producers will be announcing the names of the new cast members on February 18th. Which means you will have plenty of time to decide who you will be rooting for long before the first female contestant is double dipped.

In the meantime, you can get a temporary fix of at least one hot hip shaker by tuning into “All My Children” on February 26th. That’s when outspoken “Dancing” pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy will be hooking up with former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Cameron Mathison (he plays Ryan Laverly on the popular soap). In a real stretch (not) Chmerkovskiy will be playing — what else —a sexy dance instructor.

According to “All My Children” producers, during the February 26th episode, the women at Fusion Cosmetics decide they need a break from their intense jobs and figure pole dancing should do the trick. Enter Chmerkovskiy, who shows up with three poles. Which sort of sounds like the beginning of a great joke, but producers say it’s more of a wink and nod to former “Dancing” contestant Mathison whose character enters the dance studio and jumps in on the lesson.

Interestingly, “Dancing with the Stars” producers say they have yet to sign all of the pro dancers who will be participating in season six. As a result, they refused to confirm whether Chmerkovskiy will be shaking his groove thing next to Tom Bergeron and (gasp, cough, wheeze) Samantha Harris come March.

Ditto for two-time “Dancing with the Stars” champ Cheryl Burke. Though, I have a feeling she really, really would like to get back to work on national TV now that she is single again.

According to TV Guide, Burke and her boyfriend of a year, actor Matthew Lawrence, broke up a few weeks ago and the limber dancing queen is reportedly looking for a “distraction.”

I suppose competing for another disco-ball trophy would suffice, though ironically, the couple initially met in 2006 through Matthew’s brother Joey Lawrence when he was a contestant on the third season of “Dancing with the Stars.”

Who knows what’s in the stars this season…
