Hopefully, you have already chosen the style of fence that you like. (If not, click here to read about how you can choose a fence type.) The next step is to get that fence installed.
When it comes to installing a fence, you have three different options. Which one is right for you?
Craft It Yourself
Crafting a fence and assembling it yourself can be the best option for a number of reasons. The first is that it is usually much cheaper to craft your own fence than to have one installed. It can be a little more expensive than getting a prefab fence, unless you can negotiate a good price on all of the wood that you need or get your lumber in bulk at a lumberyard. In most home improvement stores, there is a premium on the cost of wood by the piece.
The second reason that make a fence yourself can be a good idea is that you can really customize it. You can have the fence follow uneven terrain, you can choose a multitude of different styles and use a number of different woods for your fence.
Buy It Prefab
Ready to instal fence panels are available at home improvement stores, which can really cut down on the labor you’ll need to do if you are installing your own fence. This may also be your less expensive option, depending on the style of the fence that you want, although the choice of style and wood will be limited.
The downside to going prefab is that the panels can be approximately eight feet in length and very heavy. Just getting them to your property may be a chore and an extra expense if you have to make multiple trips to get all of the fence material to your property.
If your property slopes at all, you will wind up with large uneven gaps in the fence at the bottom.
Hire Professionals
The third option will be the most expensive but the fastest and the easiest way to have a new fence. You’ll get one of the widest selections of styles, and professionals can even create complicated designs for you. Fence panels can be customized to address any slopes or uneven grading in your property.
