Getting Back on Track

There are times when you get off track. This could be from achieving an important goal or it could be from living the gospel to its fullest. When this happens it may take you awhile to realize that you may need a course correction to get your life back where you want it to be. Here are the three basic steps you need to do in order to get your life back on track.

First you should decide where you are and where you want to be. This helps you realize the steps that you need to take to get it back on track. This will also help you to measure your progress as you work towards your goal. When you can look back and see how far you have come it makes a big difference.

Second you need to set down specific steps and actions that you need to take in order to get back on track. If you want to return to church activity, you should make goals to attend the meetings, as well as goals to bring your life back into line with the gospel principles. If you want to lose weight or spend more time with your children, then you need to make goals to achieve those areas.

Third give yourself a timeline for each of the goals. As you reach each date you should see how you have changed and adjust accordingly. Some things are more difficult to overcome then you may have thought they were originally. Others may be easier than you thought.

As you work to bring yourself back on track, it is also important to pray and read the scriptures. The Lord can help you more than anything else can. Do not forgo the power that comes from Him. It is important to communicate your goals with the Lord, and ask for His help and guidance in achieving them.
