The holiday season is here again. This time of year is very busy with shopping, parties and visits from family. It’s exhausting for all of us, but it’s even worse for tired pregnant women. Try not to wear yourself out with all your holiday obligations.
Shopping during the holiday season is crazy. The stores are often filled with other shoppers. Some of these people are very rude. I remember when I was pregnant with my first baby. My husband and I had gone to the mall to buy gifts for family. We decided to split up and get gifts for each other. I was in a department store looking at ties to match a shirt I had purchased for him. A woman was trying to get by and pushed me right into a rack of belts.
This was not only rude, but very dangerous. Fortunately, there are ways to avoid this craziness. If possible, get your shopping done early. Get to the mall on a weekday when they first open. There are fewer crowds and you may be able to get through your shopping experience unscathed.
Another great option is to shop on the internet. You can get just about anything delivered to your door. You can even have items gift wrapped and shipped right to the recipient. I have been doing a lot of online shopping this year. With a small baby in the house, it has been very easy and stress free. You can get your shopping done in a fraction of the time and take a nap with the time you have left over.
Holiday parties can wear you out too. If you have several parties to attend, you may want to prioritize them. Are there any you can skip? Are there a few that you can just pop in for a short time and then go home? If you will be attending a party and will get home late, be sure to take a nap in the afternoon. This will leave you with enough energy to enjoy the party without getting worn out.
If you typically do a lot of baking during the holiday season, you may want to set some limits here. Staying up until all hours baking delicious treats is a lot of fun. When you are pregnant and tired, it can seem like more work than it is worth. If you are experiencing morning sickness or are having a lot of fatigue, consider skipping it this year. If you still want to bake, consider cutting back on how much you make.
Finding time to get enough rest during the holiday season is very important. Your growing baby takes up a lot of your energy. It’s important for your health and your baby’s that you get enough rest. Go to bed earlier at night to be sure you are getting enough sleep. Take a nap during the day to make up for lost sleep during this busy season. When you are well rested, you will enjoy the holidays a lot more than if you are exhausted and dragging yourself from one obligation to the next.
