Recently, I was asked to help coordinating the decorating of our church’s main hall for the big Christmas festivities. We are going to have a local outreach featuring a live nativity, a bonfire, a Christmas Tree raffle, lots of food, live music programs and more.
We would love to have plenty of Christmas plants and flowers, however, our budget isn’t very large. So, I have been gathering all of the ideas I can get in order to save money. Here are some of the ways, you too can get flowers on a budget, whether it is for the holidays or even a wedding!
The first thing is to plan your flowers around the season and your area. We will do much better getting local flowers that are grown in season. Do some research to find out which blooms are readily available for your time frame and incorporate those into your plan. This is especially valuable for weddings, which normally require a lot of flowers. For example, roses are at their highest price in February.
Consider potted plants instead of cut flowers. There are several ways that this can save money. First of all, the potted plants will last longer than cut flowers. Potted plants can be taken back to decorate your home. One other way that potted plants really save: they can often be rented from a party rental supplier!
If you have an artistic flair, arrange the flowers yourself rather than ordering them in ready made bouquets and displays. go whole sale to get the best prices, especially when you are ordering in bulk.
Decide on your color scheme or theme before choosing flowers. There may be less expensive options that will work. If you have your heart or your design set around a particular flower, you may find that the cost is far out of reach.
