Getting it Right

A couple of days ago I posted about the end-of-the-year scrapbook I am helping to make as thank you gift to for my daughter’s teacher. I got roped into volunteering for the job, but am not the one who is actually putting together the layouts; rather, my job is to collect a series of teacher or education-related quotes which be added to the pages as embellishments, borders or titles.

I shared some of my favorites in a previous post, but just found out that most of them were too long. So, I’m back at it again. I decided to search for shorter quotes on various scrapbook websites, but none seem to list the famous sayings according to length. Needless to say, it took longer than I had expected.

Fortunately, I found a few that I think will work well. They better work well because I am running out of time. The book needs to be done in less than a month. Of course, if the following quotes don’t work, then maybe you can use some of them in your school-related layouts:

I cannot teach anybody anything; I can only make them think. – Socrates

Learning is not a spectator sport. – D. Blocher

A child educated only at school is an uneducated child. – George Santayana

School is a place were you go to eat your lunch – Unknown

Today a reader, tomorrow a leader. – W. Fusselman

A good book is the best of friends, the same today and forever. -Martin Fraquhar Tupper

Imagination is more important than knowledge. – Albert Einstein

I never teach my pupils; I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn. – Albert Einstein

Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten. – B. F. Skinner

A mind once stretched by a new idea never regains its original dimensions – Oliver Wendell Holmes
