Getting Organized In Her New Apartment

My daughter is getting ready to move into her first apartment. There is much excitement, she can hardly wait. I’m looking forward to a little less cleaning around here but other than that, I’m going to miss her.

I’m trying to get her off on the right foot. Cleaning is not her forte to say the least. Hailey is good at organizing but gets so picky about it that she gives up halfway through the project.

There are so many neat things to buy for a first apartment but since this apartment is tiny, I’m looking at storage and organization options.

The first thing I bought is under the bed boxes. Left to her own devices Hailey will sweep everything under the bed and call the room clean, at least with those boxes she won’t be able to stuff everything under there. I bought them specifically for out of season clothing. I am always in charge of changing out our wardrobes when the seasons change. Hailey has no idea how the clothes just disappear and reappear, these boxes will help her with that part of her closet organization.

Plastic totes for storage are a must. I lost Hailey’s entire summer wardrobe when she was two because the boxes it was stored in got wet and everything mildewed. I want to make sure she doesn’t lose any of her special stuff in storage.

Over the door hooks are very handy as well and will cut down on jackets being tossed on any available chair. I’ve purchased drawer organizers and shower organizers.
One thing you never think about until you need them is hangers so I’ve bought a couple packs so she will be well stocked. In addition to hangers, shoe bags, plastic bins to fit the closet shelves and hooks to hang purses on will help keep the closet organized.

Setting up your first apartment is hard, you don’t really know where anything goes because Mom always decided. Hopefully with all the storage options it will be a little easier for her to organize and clean her new home.
