I have to confess that I am very excited about tomorrow. That is because two of the biggest children’s outgrown sales are taking place in my area. These outgrown sales are a great way to pick up plenty of bargains and fill in the wardrobes for my children. There are also plenty of toys, books and games to be had as well.
Today I sat down to make a list of the needs for the kids. This is important because it helps me avoid buying things that we don’t really need and forgetting things that we really do. For example, without a list, I might purchase too many pairs of jeans and not enough tops.
I already have a pretty good idea of what is lacking right now for my kids, but not so much when it comes to their future needs. My oldest son now tends to wear out clothing, so there isn’t a great deal to pass down to my youngest son, and my daughter has to make do with just hand me downs from others or shopping these sales.
It makes sense to look out for items that they might need for next year as well. Since we don’t need these items immediately, I can selectively pick up the best bargains here and there.
Our first stop will be early in the morning to the last day of a three-day sale. On this last day, items are all marked off by 50%. Because the sale is so large, I can usually find plenty of items to fill our need, even if I don’t get first pick. We make this our first stop because once the sale hits the half price number the items will go quickly.
The second sale doesn’t open to the general public until two hours past the first sale. I expect that this one will be a madhouse,a s everyone scrambles. But because I hit the first sale earlier in the day, I can just target whatever items I need to fill in, and not stay at that one too long. The sale is only one day, so the price you see is the price you get.
