Preparations for our daughters birth began as soon as we discovered that I was expecting. There is always something to do whether it be taking supplements to support the baby’s development or getting baby gear together. With each phase of pregnancy comes new things to accomplish and additional changes to be made.
I have had my fair share of changes to my regular routine including my diet and exercise regime; modifications were a must to maintain a healthy pregnancy. I also undertook many projects in preparation for the baby, many of them taking the form of “art” projects for the nursery, but also included getting my daughter’s wardrobe put together. My addiction to shopping for baby girl clothes seems to have come to and end as I focus my energy on things that seem to be more urgent as our daughter’s arrival draws near.
Now I seem to be spending most of my time making sure that everything is ready for when our daughter is actually born. I have washed her clothes, bed linens, and car seat liner. I am very nearly finished making her crib bumper. I found a girly bouncy seat at consignment, hopefully for her to doze in while I am getting things done around the house. I have a dresser drawer filled with her clothes and diapers. I have gotten together almost all the birth supplies and put together a birth plan. My most recent baby gear urgency hit when I realized that our son may not transition to his bed as well as I had hoped especially with “daddy” working so late. I started researching co-sleepers and decided that we really needed one. So I began looking on craigslist and at consignment shops and I actually found one yesterday on consignment at a reasonable price.
I feel more prepared for our daughter’s arrival. but I cannot help thinking that there is something I still need to do or buy. In all honesty, I still have a couple of weeks to figure it out!
