I really cannot believe that 2007 is nearly over. In addition to all the personal and familial changes and developments over this past year (the year I turned forty, by the way)—it has been a busy and growing year in my home business as well. As I look at the calendar and realize there are only three weeks or so left in the calendar year, I realize it is nearly time to “close the books” on another business year too.
There are a few things to wrap up before the year turns over, and then there will be the collecting of all the documents and records for taxes. There are things I can do now to make sure that everything arrives on time—verify addresses, make sure my own records are up to date, etc. As I look over my own financial revenue and expense spreadsheets, I see that the year has gone much better than the goals I set for myself at this time a year ago. And, I thought I set some pretty optimistic goals too.
Still, I cannot help but find it hard to celebrate—I am one of THOSE people who is always thinking about how I could have done so much more—if only I’d been more focused, worked through a few more weekends instead of sinking into family time, if only I’d stayed up later or got up a little earlier to do more work—I don’t know what good any of that sort of thinking does for me, but I cannot help but do it! The good thing is that in a couple weeks, there is nothing else I can do about it, I just have to close the books and turn my focus toward the next twelve months. It is like the international conference planning I do—at some point, I just have to go to the event and do it—finally, the last day, we wrap things up and it is over. Time to move on to something else…
