Now that the highs are getting lower and the lows are frigid, your maternity wardrobe might need a little adjusting. Don’t pack up the t-shirts yet, though, there are still some ways you can wear them.
Here are some tips for transitioning from warm-weather clothes to fall fashions:
- 1. Pick up some open front sweaters that zip, tie or button to wear over your summer tanks and tees. Muted grays and charcoals will complement the bright colors and are this season’s shade of choice. Long sweaters are in style, so find one that falls just past your hips.
- 2. Tights are in this season, so pair a pair of black tights with your favorite dress or skirt to make it last. To give the outfit even more fall “edge,” wear a pair of suede boots.
- 3. Sleeveless dresses look great layered over a fitted long sleeve tee or blouse. Try a white turtleneck with a dark sleeveless jumper, dark tights and a pair of dark slouch boots.
- 4. For work, layer a button down shirt over your summer tank to dress it up. Most of your bright summer shirts will look great with black dress pants and dressy shoes. As an alternative to a button down shirt, try a dressy, fitted jacket. Look for cute patterns in tweed, twill, and jacquard.
- 5. If you’re headed for the outdoors, save a buck or two by wearing your husband’s sweatshirts and hoodies instead of buying them in maternity. Wear layers that you can remove, since pregnant women tend to get very hot, even in cold weather.
- 6. If you were thrifty enough to buy the capris that convert into pants, all you have to do is roll them down and you’re ready for fall and winter. How convenient!
Enjoy being pregnant in cool weather! It’s the perfect time of year when you’re always burning up.
