Every time I need to wrap a gift, someone has wandered off with the tape, and the scissors. As soon as I round those up I’m able to sit down and wrap gifts. Wrapping gifts is not my favorite thing to do. I know some people go all out, their packages are almost too beautiful to open. The time and creative energy that goes into all those beautiful presents under the tree, well, let’s just say that gene skipped me.
My packages are wrapped unevenly, sometimes the paper is ripped and there is lots of tape. I don’t know why I’m this way about wrapping, it just seems like a waste of time and energy to me so I don’t really put a lot of effort into it.
One thing I did put effort into was creating a gift wrapping station. One of my biggest pet peeves is not being able to find what I need. Once you have children nothing is ever where you put it, of course, it’s not always there fault, sometimes you put it somewhere they can’t get to it and then you can’t find it.
Since I’m not a fan of wrapping presents I needed to make it as easy as possible. Thanks to shoe boxes and trash cans, my wrapping station is organized. I don’t really have a wrapping station, I drag the stuff to where ever I’m wrapping but it sounds fancier to call it that.
A large, clean kitchen trash can is perfect for corralling all those rolls of gift wrap. It’s about the only thing that will keep them from falling and rolling all over the place. A plastic bin holds gift boxes along with some shoe boxes. In those shoe boxes I store tape, scissors, ribbon, tags, and whatever little decorative touches that can be used for wrapping. This wrapping station makes it easier to wrap presents all year long. Birthday, anniversary, baby shower, whatever it is, all the wrapping paper is stored together so it takes minutes to get ready to wrap instead of the huge waste of time it used to be.
Doing this one thing has made the dreaded task of wrapping a little easier. But if you really like to wrap gifts, I’d always welcome the help!
