With Christmas soon approaching, what better time could there be to start your own gift-wrapping service from home? What a fun and creative way to make a little extra cash. Sure, you’re not exactly going to get rich doing it, but it might be an opportunity to help increase your holiday shopping funds.
Hit those early bird sales and stock up on discounted wrapping paper, boxes, tissue paper, gift bags, ribbon, bows, nametags, decorative items, and tape. If you make a go of it, you can start stocking up on all these items during those after holiday sales to get a better jump on next year.
Of course, you can wrap gifts all year long, but you’ll have better luck during the Christmas season. All you need are the above-mentioned supplies, a list of which gift belongs to whom for labeling purposes, and the actual gifts. You can charge per gift, remembering to include your expenses for supplies, or you can charge a flat rate. Some people give out a large number of gifts and they will appreciate this service. Some people may even tip you.
Tell all your friends, family members, other parents at school, teachers, and people from church, busy executives, people who travel frequently, etc. Ask people you’re close with to spread the word. Seek a free ad in a penny pincher. Post a flyer on a community bulletin board if available. Wrap a gorgeous package and print your contact information on a blank gift tag then ask the proprietor of a local business to display it for you.
You might just make a few extra bucks and you’ll have plenty of wrapping supplies left when it’s time to wrap your own gifts.
