Just because we may be dreaming of a white Christmas doesn’t mean that gardeners aren’t also dreaming in green. If you are looking for something special to get that person who loves to putter outside and grow things, here are some great gift ideas. And if you yourself are the gardener, well, print this article, circle what you would like to have, and leave it somewhere conspicuous.
Nursery Gift Certificate
It was only recently that I learned that many nurseries offer gift certificates. I suppose that this never occurred to me before. But it is true. Local garden centers or home improvement stores are also great places to find gift certificates. Just make sure that the gift certificates don’t expire any time soon. You want to make sure that your gift recipient has a chance to shop any time in the next year.
Multi-tiered Plant Stand
A multi-tiered plant stand is a great gift for any gardener who has run out of space on the window sill for her favorite plants. The plant stand can also double as an organizing area in the potting shed, as well. Or how about using the stand outdoors or on a porch in mild weather for instant curb appeal? That is one of the reasons that I love this idea; it is so versatile. You can never have too many plants, especially if you have somewhere to display them.
Membership to a Botanical Garden
I love our membership to our local botanical garden. It is a source of lots of great ideas for gardening, as well as offering the opportunity for classes and programs that could expand my knowledge and skill in gardening. The membership also entitles me to a percentage off of any purchases at the gift store, which includes plants, bulbs and seeds, in addition to gardening books and gardening accessories.
