The day I gave birth to my daughter was the day I bid farewell to girls-only vacations. (Unless, of course, you count our mother-daughter trips to visit grandma and grandpa in Hawaii as girls-only getaways.) At this point in my life I can’t imagine jetting off to a tropical locale (not even my hometown of Hilo) with a group of gal pals for some much needed R&R.
Still, I must admit, the travel packages designed for women-only, which are constantly being advertised on the Travel Channel are enticing. The one I found most appealing is being offered by Maui’s upscale Wailea Beach Villas. The resort’s “Wailea Wahine Getaway” package is designed to pamper the most discerning women. (At least according to the commercial.)
The package includes six nights in a two-bedroom, garden-view penthouse plus one complimentary half-day excursion for you and your best gal pals with the resort’s private adventure guide, an in-room spa treatment for each female guest in your party, and a complimentary dinner prepared by one of the resort’s private chefs.
Rates begin at $1,650 per person based on four people for six nights in a two-bedroom penthouse. The package is valid through December 19, 2008.
If you are looking for a more affordable girls-only getaway consider checking into Hotel Renew, Waikiki’s newest luxury designer boutique hotel. It is currently offering one-third off its regular rack rates for bookings through April 30, 2008. (That breaks down to about $200 per night per room.)
Standard rooms are decked out with cool limestone and oak woods, hand-selected by designer Jiun Ho. In addition, you and your girlfriends will find the latest in business and entertainment technology including complimentary WiFi and high-speed Internet, 80-inch projection televisions and 32-inch flat-screen, high-definition TVs with complimentary wireless headsets for independent viewing in your large guest rooms.
If it sounds like a place you wouldn’t mind bonding with your pals you need to act fast to take advantage of the discounted rate. Once lobby renovation work is complete room rates will jump up to $300 per night.
