Give the Gift of the Irish

My husband says that I’m a loon when it comes to holidays. I love ‘em all. I love any excuse to throw up some decorations. I love any reason to give a small present and to show my appreciation for my family and friends. Sometimes it’s the smaller holidays that I have the most fun with. Those are the holidays that are not quite considered traditional gift giving.

One of those holidays is coming up this Friday. St. Patrick’s Day is a day we’re supposed to get our Irish on – whether we’ve got Irish in us or not. I’m more Scots, but I still love the holidays. So if you want to get your Irish on or get it with your Irish here are some ideas for fun gifts you can give or share together.

  • Watch The Quiet Man together. It’s a great romantic love story and ideal for sharing popcorn, M&Ms and quiet enjoyable time together.
  • Give the gift of four leaf clovers – they are not only good luck and fun – they symbolize faithful love and a faithful lover.
  • Dance to some Irish music and go for an evening a great Irish pub. Most towns have one and the music on St. Paddy’s is as fun as on other nights.
  • Irish coffee is a fun gift to receive first thing in the morning and if you’re a coffee connoisseur it can be even better.
  • The Claddagh is an ancient Gaelic symbol of eternal friendship and lasting love – choose a ring or other style – but it’s a beautiful way to tell your spouse that you love them – Irish style.

See one you like? Take the plunge. Every moment we have together with our spouses is a gift. Show your appreciation, your love – and your sense of fun. After all – presents are great in the giving and the receiving.
