Some days, the schedule is just packed. You’re running from one thing to another, with barely a minute in between to catch your breath… let alone freshen up. So what can you do to keep feeling (and smelling) fresh on those ultra-busy days?
The very best thing you can do is to plan ahead. If you know you’ve got a crazy day on the schedule, be prepared. Pack a change of clothes if you think you’ll need a fresh outfit. Bring toiletries so you can wash up a little when you change. Maybe you won’t end up needing them… but you’ll be glad you planned ahead if you do end up needing them!
There are lots of little on-the-go products that can help you freshen up when you’re short on time. Deodorants come in travel sizes, and will fit nicely into most purses or pocketbooks. I always like to have baby wipes on hand — they’re good for a quick clean-up! Baby wipes also come in travel sizes, so you don’t have to lug a full pack along if you don’t want to. And don’t forget hand sanitizers! If you’re worried about your immune system this winter, a travel sized hand sanitizer can bring you some peace of mind.
Just about any personal care product you could want is available in travel sizes these days — even collapsing toothbrushes if your teeth need some love. I even have a “floss card” — dental floss wound flat inside a plastic card about the size of a credit card — that has saved my teeth from embarrassment more than once.
And don’t underestimate the power of the public bathroom. It’s a great place to change… but you can also wash your face and hands, freshen your makeup in the mirrors, and more. Another advantage? A public restroom is a bit more private than trying to change your clothes in the car, or floss in the rearview mirror!
My point is that you don’t have to feel awkward, dirty, or smelly even if you’ve got a busy day planned. A little thinking ahead — bringing along the things you think you’ll need — can go a long way.
