Don’t let the slumping economy put a damper on your family’s travel plans. Sure, the price of gas is astronomical and the cost of food is enough to make you lose your appetite, but thanks to some savvy hoteliers offering clever family-friendly travel packages you can still take your kids on the road and not go bankrupt in the process.
MARYLAND
From now through May 23, 2008 the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina on Maryland’s eastern shore (near Cambridge) is offering a Spring Fever package. For $129 per room per night your family will receive accommodations plus a complimentary s’mores kit to be used at the resort’s massive outdoor fireplace. The rate also gives you access to the resort’s on-site 18-acre nature preserve, tennis courts, fitness center, mini golf course and basketball courts. Equipment rentals are also included as are putting green and driving-range privileges. Saturday nights at the resort are highlighted with “Dive-In” movies, which are projected onto large screens that kids can watch while splashing around in the resort’s indoor pool. The $129 rate is valid Sunday through Thursday. You’ll pay $199 per room per night for Friday and Saturday stays.
FLORIDA
Floridays Resort Orlando’s Explore & Save package is a unique budget saving deal. The package includes accommodations in a two- or three-bedroom suite, with a full kitchen and two bathrooms, admission to SeaWorld and the brand-new, 52-acre water park, Aquatica. You’ll also receive a Perks Card, which provides discounts to the Arabian Nights Dinner Attraction, Gatorland, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, the Carving Station Restaurant, Magical Midway, Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show, and other local attractions. Rates start at $75 per person per night for guests 4 years and older. So a family of four (with two adults and two children older than 4) would pay $300 per night. The offer is good through June 30, 2008 but you must book your reservation by May 31, 2008.
