Despite having personal problems lately, Kanye West (whose mother just died) and Amy Winehouse (whose been plagued with a number of problems) were nominated for a total of 14 Grammys between them.
Kanye received eight nominations including Album of the Year and Rap Album of the Year for Graduation. Kanye will be going against the likes of Common (for Finding Forever), Jay-Z (for Kingdom Come), T.I. (for T.I. vs T.I.P) and Nas (for Hip Hop is Dead) for Rap Album of the Year.
Amy received six nominations including Album of the Year for Back to Black, Song of the Year and Record of the Year for Rehab and Best New Artist. For the Best New Artist award, she will be up against Feist, Ledisi, Paramore, and Taylor Swift.
Of course, George Lopez, who announced one of her nominations, took a shot at her by saying “Can somebody wake her up around 6 this afternoon and tell her?” But then he told People magazine that “Amy has it down to where she can get a good buzz going and be very creative. I’m envious of that.”
