My mom arrives in Dallas from L.A. today. I am beyond excited. I love living in Texas and the life my husband and I have created. Our toddler daughter is ours because we’re in Texas. Nevertheless, I miss living in Southern California with my large family. I wish that Jessie could spend as much time with her cousins and grandparents as my nieces and nephews do.
Jessie knows that Grandma is coming. She’s been walking around the house saying, “Grandma,” for days. What an enjoyable time we will have too.
According to the text alert, her plane lands in two-and-a-half hours. I have so much to do! I still need to make up the bed in the guestroom. I’d let Jessie help me, but she’ll get into mischief with Daddy in his office or his drums. I don’t know how I’ll escape upstairs without her, though.
Jessie no longer has to ride in a stroller at the airport. She’s so excited to be walking on her own and is thrilled when she sees Grandma behind the glass. Watching Jessie walk, she looks like walking is a newly learned skill instead of something she’s been doing half her life.
After Grandma arrives, we’ll go out to dinner. We always go to Texas Roadhouse for our first meal together. Texas Roadhouse is a great restaurant open only for dinner on weekdays.
I wonder if tonight will be a night that Jessie will eat. We’ve stopped getting her a meal of her own and giving her food off our plates instead. Texas Roadhouse has great bread and I know Jessie will enjoy that.
Tomorrow is a Gymboree day. Wednesday is Jessie’s surgery. It is always nice when my mom is here. It will be especially nice to have her here to help keep the toddler quiet to recover.
