What a great way to end the summer. Chris’s parents came to visit and we had a great time. Then we adopted our darling Baby E. Then my mom arrived. Grandma’s here!
The day my mom’s plane was due to land is the same day we adopted the baby girl we’d fostered since she was a day old. We didn’t know if we’d have enough time after the ceremony to get home, get changed, and get to the airport. Mom was in no rush and knew we’d get there when we got there. Jessie was excited about Grandma coming. Emily would have been excited too, but she’s still so little that it’s all a bit much.
We arrived at the airport just as Grandma’s plane was taxiing to the gate. It was perfect timing. We went from the airport to lunch at PF Chang’s. We always have a good time at lunch with noodles and dumplings. Then we went to the Grapevine Mills mall after lunch. Shopping was a lot of fun. We got light-up flip flops and Skechers Twinkle Toes sneakers. With the shoes she got while Grammy and Papa were here, Jessie’s all set for school.
Every day that Grandma was here we ate a lavish breakfast and drank delightful flavored coffee. We forgot to get a soufflé dish for the next time Grandma’s here. I should go get one and attempt Mom’s cheese soufflé myself.
We had many lunches and breakfasts out. We tried restaurants new to the children and restaurants new to us. We had a great time at Primo’s on Lake Ray Hubbard. I wanted to sit out on the lake, but it was well over one hundred degrees outside. Brunch was wonderful and Jessie got several plates of strawberries all to herself.
What will we do when Grandpa joins us?
