Does your baby already have a library? Mine did. I was always looking for good books for her whether they were the edible cardboard kind or the exploratory touch and feel kind. I spent a lot of time out there looking for good books that would appeal to her. So if you’re like me and you’re looking for some great book ideas for your baby or toddler, here are a few that we like:
- When Sheep Sleep is a charming book written by Laura Numeroff and provides a lot of different things for your little one to count from the sheep to the pigs to the puppies and the cows
- Whose Knees Are These? And Whose Toes Are These? is a board book written by Jabari Asim and offer a great dialogue on the charming and pudgy knees and toes of our beloved little ones
- Baby Shoes written by Dashka Slater takes a different look at the world through the colors a baby’s white shoes will step on and over
- Cheep! Cheep! By Julie Stiegermeyer challenges mom and dad to follow the sounds that convey the story of three little chicks whether it’s creep, sleep or cheep
- If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff is another fun book that takes you down the road of what a mouse will take if you offer him a cookie and it’s a real old favorite in our house
Reading to your little one is one of the greatest gifts you can give them. For every book they open later in life will be a direct result of you turning the pages now. Every open book is like a doorway to another world and how can we not want to give them this legacy for the fullness of their lives? What are some of your favorite books to read to your baby or toddler?
