Have you heard about a great new book that you would love to read? Before paying full price for it, be sure to check out Amazon to see if you can get it at a discount, or find a used copy at a great savings. You can often find even current titles used, in good condition, and at very reasonable prices.
You can also get great reading material at used bookstores. Books are generally in good condition and cost about half the retail price. The best part is after you read the books you purchase you can trade them in for more. You can also trade in the books you’ve purchased through Amazon and exchange them for different titles.
Garage sales and thrift stores are usually good resources for books, although you will likely find a large selection of older titles rather than current best sellers. Still, you’re likely to find some excellent reading material. Even if you are a voracious reader, you have probably missed some terrific titles over the years. After reading them, trade these in at the used bookshop as well.
Remember, you can generally only select from the same genre as the books you are trading in, so be sure to bring along a good selection of previously read books so you’ll go home with an equally interesting assortment.
When it comes to magazines, don’t pay the newsstand price for single copies. Seek subscription discounts. Learn more about magazines (as well as other great discounts) by visiting the Deals, Coupons, Freebies, and More Blog.
You can obviously read all you want to without spending a cent if you visit your local library, but did you know that many schools and churches also have libraries and will gladly loan you books with simple identification? Your local libraries may also accept requests for new books to add, so be sure to ask.
