What are your New Year resolutions? The number one resolution overall, according to most of the poles is to get fit. While I do need to work on that one as well, most of my resolutions are centered around living frugally. Here are some great frugal resolutions that anyone can keep!
Stop Paying for Things We Don’t Use
From extra channels on the cable bill to seldom-used gym memberships to extra bank fees, there are a number of things that we pay for out of habit or because we don’t even think about them.
One of my resolutions is to identify these things that aren’t worth their cost and eliminate them this year.
Reduce the Grocery Bill
I admit that I don’t always have the motivation to get the best deals and all of the freebies that are possible with coupons, and sometimes buy too many convenience foods. This year, I hope to tighten things up a bit with the food bill, by cooking more from scratch than I did last year, get my stockpile back up and wasting less.
I also want to be more on top of my coupons and start taking advantage of drugstore deals to stock up on the health and beauty staples that my family uses.
Do Some Low Cost Decorating
We’ve been spending a lot on much needed home improvement that will reduce our energy bill. Now that most of this will be out of the way, it is time to start doing some decoration and design.
I plan on scouring the upscale home decor catalogues, look through magazines from the library and do some research online to get ideas. Then I would like to translate those ideas into practical low cost reality. Freecycle, Home Goods, the Habitat for Humanities thrift store and consignment shops will be some of the sources I want to check out.
