Blended families are definitely becoming a popular family unit, and suddenly there is a spike in books, songs, television shows and movies produced primarily for them. There are dozens of movies to pick from if you are looking for a good movie for your blended family to watch. The following are a few family favorites with some classics thrown in for good measure.

1. Stepmom – The story of a step mom and a biological mom and their journey to discover the place they both fill in the children’s lives. This beautiful story starts out a bit dysfunctional but has a beautiful ending.
2. Yours, Mine and Ours – What blended family wouldn’t love the barrel of laughs and the fact that they can actually relate to many of the emotions and struggles that are depicted in this movie. Whether you watch the original with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda or the newer version with Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo, you’ll love the blended family story that is shared.
3. One Fine Day – This cute movie is about the hectic day that gradually transforms into the mutual fighting and antagonism of two single working parents. It of course ends in love, and is a cute story complete with plenty of comedy because of the silly things the kids do.
4. Mrs. Doubtfire – After a bitter divorce, an actor disguises himself as a female housekeeper to spend secret time with his children held in custody by his Ex.
5. The Parent Trap – While the story isn’t exactly geared to the blended family, it is certainly a cute movie to watch as identical twin sisters who were separated from birth because of the divorce of their parents meet each other at summer camp and begin plotting how to get their parents back together.
6. Lassie – This is the story of a young boy living in a blended family must adjust to the changes in his new family. He finds Lassie and begins a relationship with the special dog that helps him adjust while showing him undeniable faith and love one can only get from a dog.
7. A Summer To Remember – Movies with animals as the primary friend in a dysfunctional family are always entertaining. This one is about an Orangutan who befriends a boy who has been silent since losing his hearing to meningitis. The boy is struggling with his new step father and this is the story of this journey.
8. The Brady Bunch Movie – You knew I couldn’t leave this one off the list. Probably the first real look into the lives of a blended family, and while slightly unrealistic, it can provide entertainment for your family and certainly has some funny moments.
9. With Six You Get Egg Roll – If you liked the original Yours, Mine and Ours you should love this movie too. It is the story of Abby McClure, a widow with three sons, and Jake Iverson, a widower with a teen-age daughter and how they get fixed up and what transpires.
