Group Fitness Classes Are Great Options

Too often we think about the group fitness class at the gym with a groan. After all, who wants to be in a room full of spandex wearing women or men or both. Far too often we become self-conscious and we think only toned bodies are going to be on the people in that room, but it’s not entirely true. You may be denying yourself a great fitness option because of how you view yourself. It’s important to remember that plenty of people lose weight, trim up and look toned and firm after working out regularly and those toned bodies wouldn’t look that way if they weren’t in that group class busting a hump on a regular basis.

Why Should You Explore a Group Fitness Class Option?
You should explore your group fitness options at your spa, school, gym or club because group classes have a great energy about them. That energy is contagious and it starts with the instructor and how they lead the class. It permeates the room and gains more charge from each and every person there working out with you. This great energy can help make the hour go by faster and it can help boost a grueling workout from punishment to fun.

Group fitness classes aren’t just step aerobics, aerobics or spinning. You can enjoy group fitness in Tai Chi, Pilates or Yoga. The instructor is there to help boost your mental and physical confidence. He or she will use music, words and performing with you to get you up and moving. A group fitness class is a place where you can also explore different forms of creative exercise and try out something you may not have done before.

No Experience Required

While it’s true that there are plenty of fitness classes that require a higher level of expertise, many classes are geared towards the beginner, the experienced and the expert. Many instructors will incorporate high impact and low impact exercises into the course of the class and there are classes that will detail in their description what the level of impact and intensity is.

My personal experience with group fitness classes is that they can be a lot of fun. You can spend as much time laughing and groaning with others and have a natural support club in the room. It can be intimidating when you first walk in the door, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. In fact, more often than not – I’m hearing similar complaints from the toned ones who are sweating their way through that workout right alongside you.
