You know about Groupon, the daily deals site that helps you save money by offering coupons or deals on your favorite places while encouraging you to try new business with, yes, more deals.
You sign up with Groupon and then check you email box for offers. You might get $40 worth of food at your favorite restaurant for only $20. Or perhaps you can get your hair cut at a new salon for 60 percent off.
There are some issues with Groupon. You may miss out on a deal, especially if you aren’t checkin your email every fifteen minutes, such as when you are out to dinner or getting your hair cut. You might miss a deal if you aren’t fast enough on the trigger. You might purchase a deal and then forget to use it before the expiration date, thus losing any money you spent on the deal in the first place.
If you are willing to pay, live in one of the test market areas, and one of the special “best customers,” all of those issues can go away. Welcome to the new Groupon VIP program.
For $29.99 Groupon users can get access to closed and sold-out deals, get early access to the regular deals, and get simple “one-click access” to refunds, should their deals expire before they are used.
Currently there is a three-month trial going on for this program, so if you are interested in it, check your email to see if you have been invited. If not, well you will just have to wait to see if this VIP service gets expanded to include your area or level of Groupon use.
What do you think? Is the Groupon service valuable enough to pay almost $30 for improved access and a way to recoup the cost on expired deals?
