Growing Your Facebook Fan Page Series, Part 3

Growing your fan page will be work but it can be fun. You will have a chance to meet new business owners, bloggers, and customers. Enjoy the process. The more you enjoy it the more your page will be contagious. Yesterday we discussed the importance of tagging and making those in your core group feel special. Do not misunderstand and think these actions are disingenuous. If your actions are simply for the cause of self promotion then it will shine through and any benefit to these methods will be lost. You need to be sincere in helping your customers and supporting other small businesses. The by product will be the support and growth you see in return. So let’s talk about a few other methods of growing your fan page.

Welcome New Fans

Each time you gain a new fan it comes up on the top left hand side of your screen. After a week or if you get a large spike of fans update your status with a thank you and welcome. People want to be noticed and this will make them feel you care for each of your customers. Remember without your customers you are just a shop overflowing with widgets with no one to buy them. If you can tag them in your welcome do so if not adding their name is still a nice personal touch.

Respond and “Like” Comments by Fans

Everyone wants to be heard and while you cannot comment on every comment you can “like” every comment. Once you “like” a customer’s comment they are alerted to the activity which brings them back over to your page. I highly recommend responding personally to as many comments as possible. Have a conversation with your customers, engage them, and respond to their concerns or questions. Let them know that if they have a question or a comment that you are all ears or all keyboard.
