Now you have the knowledge to create a business fan page on Facebook and grow into a viable page. You are using the advice and tagging, building a core group, offering exclusive content, responding to your customers, welcoming new fans and updating your status with engaging content. What else can you do and how do you know it is working to your benefit?
Contests
Have Facebook exclusive contests and giveaways. The contest or giveaway can be anything from a specific product to a gift card to use for your products. I heard of someone giving away an item to the 500th fan and the person who recommended the fan. Try something like that to get a buzz going about your page and get not only fans excited but other page owners excited.
What is working for you?
To know if your efforts are paying off besides seeing the growth in fans you need to know how far your page and presence reaches within the Facebook community. To understand your page’s impact go to the Insights tab on the left hand sidebar after you click on “edit page”. You will have the ability to see how many new likes you obtained in a certain timeframe. In addition you will see how many active users you have. Active users are those who are sharing your content, posting videos and pictures or commenting on your wall. When you look at the graph provided determine where your spikes in activity are so you know the best ways to grow your page. Did you get the most activity during a contest, a giveaway or asking survey questions? This information is valuable and allows you insight on what works or does not work for your fan page.
Another important statistic to look at is “unsubscribers”. Are you noticing that you have a big contest gain a lot of fans but the next day they unsubscribe? If you notice one or two unsubscribers then there is no need to panic. Sometimes people leave Facebook or “unlike” a page to cut down on their news feed activity. It is most likely nothing personal if it is only a few here and there. If you notice a drop after a controversial topic being discussed then likely they left due to the content. At that point it is up to you how you handle that.
