Maybe they’re not getting a divorce after all.
Maybe, just maybe, the media is making a mountain out of a molehill and Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie are simply going through a rough patch and plan to work things out.
Naaah!
Actually, if you believe Ritchie’s mom, the Madonna-Guy divorce rumors are just that—-“works of fiction” dreamed up by the media.
Ritchie’s mom, Lady Amber Leighton, broke down and went public today claiming that talk of a divorce between the Material Girl and her filmmaker husband is “total tosh.”
Speculation that the superstar couple is on the road to a legal split has been swirling for months and just a few days ago reports claimed that the pair had consulted with top family law attorneys for what could be the world’s costliest break-up. (Madonna and Ritchie reportedly don’t have a prenup and the singer is said to be worth more than $100.)
Still, according to Leighton, who spoke to the press today, her son and his mega-rich wife have no intention of parting ways.
The 62-year-old says, “It is absolute rubbish, worse than that. Guy will be furious at me talking to you, but I feel I can’t just let these reports go unanswered as they make me so angry and they are hurtful intrusions into their private lives.”
However, Leighton did confirm that the pair has been having a rough go at it recently.
“They are no different to most other couples and we all know that being together can be hard sometimes and marriages are not always a bed of roses,” Leighton told reporters. “But like other couples they work at keeping their relationship happy and fresh and they are a close and loving couple who have a family to bring up.”
Ritchie’s mother also revealed that while Madonna is in New York gearing up for her upcoming concert tour, Guy is planning to fly from London to be with her and their children later this week.
“That is not a couple splitting up,” Leighton stressed. “I’ll say it one more time, they are not getting divorced.”
Well, we know which Ritchie not to depend on if the rumors turn out to be true.
