Halloween on a Budget

The last two years I made Logan’s Halloween costumes. I was feeling very proud of myself, until this year when I knew that just wasn’t going to happen. With my school schedule as tight as it is right now I simply was not going to have the time or energy to go all out and make a fun little costume for him this year. As October got closer and closer I started to wonder how I was going to afford a costume this year since time did not permit the cheaper homemade option.

Logan was adamant that he wanted to be a pirate this year. So I started my search. I watched different coupon and deal sites and found that many places were already having great sales on their Halloween apparel. In this day and age it is easy to compare prices of different companies and make the best decision regarding your purchase. Don’t ever buy anything without doing a little research first. As a single mom with very little money, you want to make sure you are getting the best possible deal. Every little bit counts.

If time permits there are lots of great ideas for DIY Halloween costumes out there. The internet is flooded with all kinds of darling ideas for you and your children. Many of them are simple and extremely inexpensive. You don’t have to be an amazing seamstress to make your child’s costume either. Believe me, I haven’t used a sewing machine since my Home Ec class in seventh grade! But I still managed to make Logan’s Halloween costumes. I simply chose ones with no sewing involved! Look around and see what fits both your time and budget. Get the kids in on the action too. You might be surprised what you come up with!
