As I was admiring all the cute Halloween costumes for dogs, I also came across some cute Halloween-themed toys. Some of these just might provoke a few tricks from your four-legged friend.
Doctors Foster and Smith
• Halloween Trio –Ghost, Pumpkin, or Frankenstein: These are smaller toys (six inches) for small and toy breed dogs. But don’t let the name fool you –you don’t get one of each in the “trio.” You have to order them all separately. However, singly they’re $2.99, but buy all three and they’re $2.29 each.
• Spooky Musical Odd Toys –Pumpkin, Ghost, or Cyclops: These are meant for larger dogs (toys are 11 inches), but they make noises like screaming, laughter, and howling. $9.99.
• Woof or Treat Plush Toys –Pumpkin, Ghost, Scar-D-Cat, Witch: These come in two sizes, small or large, to accommodate all sizes of dogs. The small sizes squeak. The larger sizes make noises –Pumpkin says “Trick or Treat,” Ghost makes a ghostly sound, Scar-D-Cat screeches, and Witch cackles. $2.99 each for small ($2.69 if buy four or more), $8.99 for large.
• Halloween Cat Toy Tub: While the majority of goodies are for canines, I can’t leave out my feline friends! This tub of cat toys is stuffed full of 45 rattlers, mice, pompons, and balls for meowies to enjoy. $19.99.
Care-A-Lot Pet Supply
• Woof or Treats Talking Dog Toys: These are the same toys as listed above, but they’re only offered in the larger sizes. However, they have two additional types or toys, a vampire and a devil, and they’re cheaper –only $7.99 each.
• Halloween Pumpkin Puzzle: This is just too cute! Smart dogs (or even a dog you want to make smarter) will have a blast playing with this puzzle. The jack-o-lantern pumpkin comes with three puzzle pieces, one ghost and two bones (one says “trick” and the other “treat” on it). $8.99
• Halloween Loofa Dog Toys –Witch or Devil: The devil has a little pitchfork and the witch has a little broom. Can’t help but look at these and smile! $4.99 (12 inch) and $5.99 (18 inch).
I promised Wayne I would lay off buying toys for our tots, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to resist. Especially the ones that make sounds. Murph loves his flying monkey because of the obnoxious sound it makes. And it is pretty beat up now (tail’s torn off, what little stuffing there was is ripped out, an eye is missing, and one hand’s been mutilated). I can justify a new toy as a replacement…
