I have heard of Dr. Harvey Karp, but I haven’t read any of his books. I’ve recommended his books to many parents of infants and toddlers, but I haven’t dipped my toe in the water yet. It’s really silly that I haven’t read his books, especially since there are also DVDs that tell you everything you need to know to have a happy baby and a well behaved toddler. Dr. Harvey Karp is the author of The Happiest Baby on the Block and The Happiest Toddler on the Block in addition to others.
Even though I haven’t yet read any of Dr. Harvey Karp’s books, I am a fan. Today I got to attend a presentation with Dr. Harvey Karp at the DFW Family Expo before the Expo started. My husband and I got up early this Saturday and got the children up so that we’d have plenty of time to drive to Fair Park and figure out where to park for Centennial Hall. We knew we were in the right place when we saw a lot of couples, a lot of kids, and a lot of strollers. We followed the crowd and stood out in the chill waiting to get inside.
Dr. Harvey Karp is a lot of fun. He’s a pediatrician and really understands children. He gave his sage advice for how to soothe an infant and stop the crying. He also demonstrated how to evoke your inner caveman to be able to relate to and interact with your toddler.
The presentation was a little long, especially since so many young children were in attendance with parents. I really enjoyed it, though, and learned a lot. I wish I had returned to his booth to get the DVD autographed and I’m sure I’ll regret not getting the baby book and DVD.
