Happy Howl-oween!

Normally I look forward to Halloween. It’s one of my two most favorite holidays. I’m too old for trick or treating anymore, but it doesn’t stop me from dressing up –myself as well as Wayne and Murphy. (No way would Kitty let me even tie an orange or black bow around his neck! Tabby might though…)

Except, this year I wasn’t able to go all out like I usually do with decorations and stuff because we had the house on the market.

Still, I did get treats to pass out and even though Wayne won’t be with us, I have Murphy, Kitty, and Tabby to help me. Here’s how each of them will contribute:

Murphy

Usually Murph helps me put up the outside decorations. He keeps guards while I set up the cemetery with grave markers and such.

I’d had big plans to improve my outside display this year with some Halloween pirate paraphernalia I’ve been collecting. I had even toyed with getting pirate costumes for Murph and myself to complete the theme.

Alas, I wasn’t able to decorate because Halloween offends some people and it might have dissuaded potential buyers from looking at the house so…

Murph will just have to help me pass out treats instead. Which is fine by him. He loves children and likes when they come to the door (even though not all of them are so happy to see him waiting there).

Mr. Meow

He likes to help Murph and I put up the inside decorations. I have these ghosts I made out of pillow cases that I tape to the window. But before I put them up he likes to sit on them, roll around on them, and in general give them his stamp of approval.

He’s not much help when treat passing time comes around though. Inevitably he’ll make an escape attempt –which Murph (thankfully) usually thwarts.

Tabby

This is Tabby’s first Halloween! Big excitement. There’s no telling what kind of mischief she would have gotten into if we’d put up decorations. I have a feeling she would have found a way to make a game of it.

And who knows how she’ll react to the costumed strangers coming to our door. I guess we’ll find out soon!

Wishes for a Howling Good Night

Whatever plans you and your pets have for tonight, I hope you have a very happy and safe Howl-oween!
