Katherine Heigl may be losing friends in Hollywood, but at least she’s still got a job.
The actress, who came under fire recently when she announced to the world that she chose not to submit her name for Emmy consideration because she didn’t feel the material she was given this past season was “award worthy,” says she plans to return to “Grey’s Anatomy” for “the foreseeable future.”
Shortly after Heigl dissed “Grey’s” writers rumors started flying that the actress was planning her exit from the show that made her famous. Fueling the farewell rumors was the fact that Heigl has been the recipient of numerous offers to appear in big screen projects.
Still, the “Knocked Up” star says she doesn’t have plans to jump ship (just yet anyway). According to a recent interview Heigl did with Life & Style, she insists she is quite happy working on the ABC drama. When asked if she would be returning to “Grey’s” this season, Heigl told the magazine, “Of course, absolutely. Those people are like my family.”
So what would that make Heigl? The spoiled, ungrateful stepdaughter?
I mean c’mon does she really have a choice other than to spin her current situation?
After all, Heigl’s contract is good through the 2008-2009 season, which means she is committed to the show unless producers decide to have her written off.
I wonder if the name Isaiah Washington means anything to Heigl?
If it doesn’t then a recent open letter to Heigl in New York Magazine should.
The public memo applauds the actress for her grace in handling her Emmy announcement… NOT.
Rather, the letter cuts to the chase reading in part:
“You’re no Streep, honey, so please take our advice. Grey’s Anatomy is a soap opera. Get off your high horse, missy.”
Hmm… well, “27 Dresses” wasn’t exactly a blockbuster so I’d say they have a point.
Without “Grey’s Anatomy” Heigl wouldn’t be an Emmy-award winner. Perhaps she should consider that the next time she feels like biting the hand that feeds her.
