Have a Great Slogan? Put it On Everything!

It is not enough to simply come up with a catchy or creative slogan to fit your home based business. Once you have gone to the trouble and care to invent something fantastic, you have to make sure you make the best use of it. It really needs to go on everything…

The purpose of a business slogan is really marketing and branding. Think of some of the great slogans you remember from popular culture or commercials: “We do it your way” or “Squeezably soft” or “Where’s the beef?” Some of these catch phrases were intentional slogans and others might not have been–but once they caught fire, the companies certainly were not shy about using them. If you have a great slogan that you have created to fit your home business, it belongs on more than just your business letterhead or your web site. It needs to go on everything.

When I say everything, I mean business cards, brochures, packing slips, return address labels, invoices, proposals, receipts–you get the picture. You can also put it on t-shirts, your automobile and any other item where the public will see it. Your fabulous slogan should also be included in any advertising you might do whether it is print, radio, television ,or web. An advertising pro once told me that just about the time you are getting good and sick of your slogan, that is when the public is just starting to understand who you are and be able to place the slogan with your business. So, if you are starting to feel like you are overdoing the slogan, you just may be getting to a place where the public is starting to recognize it! I have known plenty of businesses who even include their slogan as a tag line on their voice mail or when answering the telephone–this is just one more way to make sure the slogan sinks into the long-term memories of your prospects and customers.
