Have Fun with Dad

left

Whether it’s on Father’s Day, next week Tuesday or the following Friday, carving out time to have fun with Dad can make a huge difference in the life of a child.

Solidifying the relationship between Dad and daughter or son is vital, especially in this day and age when children are being robbed of their innocence at an extremely young age.

This summer take some time to bond with Dad in the great outdoors by partaking in the following fun activities:

Build a Terrarium: Get dirty with Dad by collecting materials to feature in a terrarium. Look for small rocks, grass, small plants, flowers and soil, and then place them into a large plastic container. Once the items are planted, be sure to water them lightly and cover your container with a lid or piece of plastic wrap held in place with a rubber band. Finally, place your terrarium in a sunny spot and watch nature blossom before your very eyes.

Sponge Race: Challenge Dad to a Sponge Race on a hot day. Start by filling two buckets with water and placing two additional empty buckets a few yards away. Next, grab two large sponges and a stopwatch. Each player must transfer the water from one bucket to the other using only the sponge. The winner gets bragging rights and first dibs on dessert.

Colored Bubbles: Younger kids don’t need to a ton of stimulation to have fun with Dad; rather, they are content sharing simple activities with their favorite guy. If you have toddlers at home head outside for some colored bubble action. Start by adding a half a cup of washable tempera paint to one cup of bubble solution. Mix the bubbles and the paint in a shallow pan. Next, use a straw with the end held about an inch above the surface of the solution, and blow gently into it until you have a bunch of bubbles. You can have your child pop the bubbles, or for added fun, place a piece of paper gently over the bubbles. As the bubbles pop, they’ll leave a pretty design on the paper.
