Have You Ever Purchased a Shopping Pass?

One of the great things about visiting Disney is the opportunity to see all the wonderful magical attractions that excite the imagination and entertain you all at the same time. The other great thing about going to Disney is all the shopping that you can do from the amusement parks to Downtown Disney to the gift shop in your hotel. On virtually every trip we’ve made to Disney, we’ve always been sure to save up some cash so we can pick up souvenirs, gifts and more.

Still, there have been times when we’ve been there that we’ve forgotten to pick up an item or remembered an item we’d considered getting, but we couldn’t just go back to the park to pick it up because either we were out of days or we just couldn’t see spending the $70 admission just to buy an item or two.

Shopping Pass

We mentioned this during one of our visits to one of the concierge’s – we wanted to know if there was a way to order an item and just have it sent to our room. We’d had many items sent over from the parks while we shopped, but could we do it in reverse. The concierge suggested that we get a shopper’s pass and when we looked at him blankly, he explained that a shopper’s pass was a day pass that is bought at guest relations front gate (the gate to the park) and that if you return it within 1 hour – you get the full price refunded.

So in other words, if you know you really want a jacket or a snow globe or a watch from one of the shops on Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom, go to the front gate of the Magic Kingdom, buy your day pass and go do your shopping – just return to the front gate within 1 hour and you get the full price of your day pass refunded.

Be sure to check that there are no new stipulations on the passes – but it worked for us and we were able to pick up what we needed without spending money on another day in the park. According to some, this is a way to catch the fireworks if that’s all you’re going to the parks for, but I’d limit trying to use this method to just when you absolutely need it.
