Health Alert! All Infant Tylenol Recalled

This is important news if you have a baby in the house. Infant tylenol, which most doctors recommend to bring down a fever or for pain in infants is under a massive recall.

The entire U.S. supply of Infant Tylenol is being recalled by the manufacturer, Johnson & Johnson because of problems with the new dosing system. This is the most current in a series of recalls on Infant Tylenol which just got back on the market. The company says that Infant Tylenol will be out of the market now for an indefinite time.

The recall focuses on the new bottle design which was created in order to prevent accidental ingestion and to ensure that the proper dosage is given. The problem is that the design is faulty. Many parents have found that they have accidentally pushed in a protective cover, making the dosage inaccurate.

Consumers should check that they haven’t pushed in the protective cover. If it is intact, they can continue to safely use the product. Otherwise, the Infant Tylenol should be returned to the store.

This recall is only for Infant Tylenol that is formulated for children who are aged two years old and younger. It does not affect Childrens Tylenol, which is formulated for children who are older than two years old. There is also a new design on Childrens Tylenol, but it is different from the one for the infant formula, and so far there have been no problems associated with Childrens Tylenol at this time.

Because there is no time frame for when Infant Tylenol will again be on the market after the recall, you should contact your pediatrician and ask what alternatives you should have on hand for fever and pain. Always confirm the correct dosage as well, and make sure that you continue to keep the dosage amount up to date as your baby grows.
